One of the regulatory actions in the EU & UK was to remove commissions from investment products and introduce similar to Direct Plans. If one needs guidance, they have to go via an Advisor who will charge the fees. Now let's see how this transpired for their people.

I love active passive ka debate. For me, people are on one side and investment products are on the other side. Investment products, good or bad will give some returns - good or not so good. But the person on the other side can get negative returns despite of a good product.

Woah ! Launch a passive Index fund. Get some investors (they manage barely 30 cr). Not enough AUM results in poor economies of scale & voila expense ratios equal to active fund (in some cases even higher).

Each time there is a crisis like this, there even tighter regulations which require more investments into Tech to abide by the regulations. I find this rather more positive for Tech Services sector to redesign, rewire and run the Banking sector of the world.
